Ed Bahler - CEO
Ed Bahler’s mission as the CEO of Heartland Builders is for the company to be an irreplaceable knowledge partner with innovative facility designs and strategies that impact customer results. Ed graduated from Purdue University in 1979 with a B.S. in Agricultural/Civil Engineering. He’s passionate about leveraging technology through lean construction processes to get everyone home safe, significantly reduce waste, improve quality and enhance value to each customer. Ed is also passionate about developing next generation designs and facilitating construction of humane, sustainable and industry-leading protein production facilities that feed the world. Ed has been married to his wife, Annette, for 36 years. He has 7 children and 18 grandchildren.
Miles Ridgway, President & COO
Miles graduated in 1988 and commenced his career asa Project Sales Consultant. In 1999, he was promoted to Director of Sales. Then in 2010, he accepted the leadership role of President of FBi Buildings, Inc., where he continues to focus on continuously enhancing value for the customer. In 2011, Miles initiated and led the creation of Summit Livestock Facilities. The goal was to impact the profit potential of livestock producers by utilizing our ability to collaborate with customers in the planning, design, permitting and construction of their projects. Miles has been married to his wife Peggy for 27 years and has two children.
Matt Williams, Pre-Construction Manager
Matt holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Animal Science from North Dakota State University. In his role, Matt’s roll is to develop an overall marketing and sales presence for the company in agricultural markets including swine, dairy and equipment sales. Matt has been married to his wife Erica for 10 years and they have two young boys.
Brian Kroksh, Director of Operations
A Nebraska native, Brian was raised on a swine and row crop farm in Iowa. Brian has his B.S. in Construction Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Prior to serving as the Director of Operations, Brian worked in both the Commercial and Heavy Industrial sectors in positions ranging from Field Supervision to Project Management. Brian’s primary passion lies within the longstanding relationships he develops both internally and with customers, through principles of integrity, trust and transparency. Brian and his wife have three children.
Tone Carlson, Swine Specialist
Tone has been with Heartland Builders since 1990. He was hired on as a Job Supervisor. In 1995, he became the Project Development Manager. Tone supervises project estimating, which includes: preparation of contracts, spec and develop conceptual and construction drawings, change orders and sales for select customers. Tone has been married to Sandy for 31 years.
Jef Evans, Procurement Manager
Jef has a B.A. in Business Administration/ Management from the University of Nebraska- Kearney and served in the United States Army. He’s been with Heartland since 1990, starting in the construction crews then to Project Supervisor and Estimator. While in the Army, Jef spent two years in Germany reaching a rank of Sergeant. Jef has been married to Carol for 43 years. They have three children and four grandchildren.
Dennis Rohloff, General Construction Superintendent
Dennis has been with Heartland since 1988. He manages the Overall project supervision and management of construction projects, except for BGW and some commercial projects. This also includes customers, subcontractors, vendors, technical, schedules, materials, staffing, site safety and quality control needs of each project. Dennis has been married to his wife Diane for 44 years. They have two sons and two grandchildren.
Ric Karlin, Equipment Install Manager
Ric has a Certification in Mechanics from Central Community College, located in Columbus, Nebraska. He coordinates customer support services for ag equipment installation including estimating, material procurement, staffing, safety, quality control and direct supervision of installation and maintenance crews. Ric is also a Journeyman Electrician, certified crane operator, concrete pump operator and backhoe operator.
Tom Hoefer, Electrical Superintendent
Tom received his Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology from Southeast Milford College. He joined the Heartland team in 1994 as the Electrical Superintendent. Tom is a licensed Journeyman Electrician with experience in the layout, installation and maintenance of electrical power and control systems in food processing and animal facilities. He has electrical licenses in four states; Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Minnesota. Tom is responsible for the overall supervision and management of electrical department for installation and service work.
